Heartland Composite Squadron

We are a COMPOSITE squadron so our members are both youth and adult members. We work alongside one another to perform the functions of an active cadet program as well as maintain skilled search and rescue ground teams and air crews for deployments around Kentucky and the surrounding areas.

2022 Civil Air Patrol Cadet NCO of the Year Berenice Blanton

Our very own Cadet Blanton received the highest recognition for a cadet NCO by being selected as Cadet NCO of the year for the entire Civil Air Patrol organization. She joined Heartland Composite Squadron in 2019 and progressed through the leadership ranks with dedication and efficiency. An outstanding example for all cadets across the state and nation.

Orientation Rides

After joining Civil Air Patrol cadets look forward to taking to the skies and manipulating the controls of Heartland Composite Squadron's Cessna 172. Many hours are devoted to cadet orientation rides throughout the year. Every cadet has in flight instruction and a hands on chance to practice principals of flight learned in CAP's aerospace curriculum.

2022 Wreaths Across America

Heartland Composite squadron participates annually in Wreaths Across America at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky. Family and friends are invited to join the squadron as they partner with other organizations placing wreaths. All year long wreaths are sponsored so each veteran can be remembered and honored. Sponsor your wreaths through us today by visiting this link.

Fitness Is Fun

Being physically active and developing healthy life habits doesn't happen without effort. Our cadets complete a physical fitness assessment every quarter to chart their progress. Goals and progress aren't without fun activities though! Sometimes ultimate frisbee, vollyball or obstacle courses are the way we stay active.

Our squadron plane

Our squadron is assigned a Cessna 172 for conducting CAP business such as orientation rides, pilot training and proficiency, aircrew training, and search and rescue missions.
